Hmm

The 15" Cinema Display LCD is too small for me, while the 22" seems just a bit like overkill....

Any rumors on the Samsung/Apple front?

Likewise...I think Dell actually has a 17" flat display out right now.
I'm sort of waiting for Apple to do the same. However, my guess is that it won't happen till June/July at MacWorld New York.

That's a long time to wait. But you know that always happens, you plunk down mega bucks for a 15" and two weeks later it drops another $300 with the arrival of a 17".

I've come to prefer LCD having gotten used to PowerBooks.

The crispness of the image in the lack of any convergence, which starts creeping into CRTs sooner or later, the notion of not sitting in front of a particle cannon (Cathode Ray or whatever!) , the small footprint... enough reasons for me personally.

The 17" CRT is great, but an Apple designed 17" LCD would be perfect for me

Why not take a look at the Samsung SyncMaster 770 TFT? I'm using one and it's great. The dot pitch is the best I've seen on a 17" LCD at .264, it works straight out of the box with my Power Mac (both DVI and VGA connections) and the price is right at $1170.
