I just purchased a new blackberry and it's way more powerful than my old one. I'm getting a crackling noise from my computer speakers when i'm within 10 feet of my speakers. I"m using the 'average' computer speaker.
I've read online that i'm getting this noise because my speaker wire, not the speaker itself.
I would use different speaker wire, but the wire is physically built-in to the speaker.
What computer speakers do you recommend getting? Preferable ones that have 'excellent' shielding as my blackberry sits on a few feet away.
Thanks.

It's more likely the speaker wires are picking up the signal from the Blackberry, but it could indeed be the speakers. You need shielded speakers with shielded cables. I don't have a good suggestion for what brand and model to get-sorry. You get the same sort of effect with a cell phone too close to the speakers/wires as well, so ask around for speakers that aren't affected by cell phones.

You're lucky you don't have a neighbor with a giant ham radio antenna on his truck (and presumably one in his house somewhere too). I get incomprehensible talking-ish noises that frequently wake me up at 5 a.m. if I forget to turn the speakers down before going to bed. Don't get JBL Duos as a replacement

Slug, you should talk to your neighbor about that. His rig should NOT cause interference with your stuff-that's part of the FCC regulations about Ham equipment. Good hams know better than to make problems for their neighbors, but they can't fix them if they don't know about them. And if he gives you grief, call the FCC; they have an 800 number on their web site.
JBL Duos are good speakers without enough shielding to prevent interference from many CRT monitors... They sound good, but they will indeed give you EVERYTHING in the area too.

Some speakers, like the Klipsch ProMedia's, use standard speaker wires which you could replace with higher quality stuff.
