A graphical preview of the music? What would that involve? Or does that just mean those bouncy columns show in that pic (I forgot what those are called)?

A calendar would be really cool.

<a href="http://www.ipoding.com" target="_blank">www.ipoding.com</a> has an English translation of the Dutch article.

I don't know if I believe that this is real. I'm sort of sitting on the fence on this one...

it's fake. the ipod screen is only capable of 3 shades - black, white and gray. I noticed 4 levels on the mockup.

Edit: Maybe I'm wrong: <a href="http://www.apple.com/ipod/images/specsbattery10232001.gif" target="_blank">http://www.apple.com/ipod/images/specsbattery10232001.gif</a>

Computer screen colours usually come specified in bits per pixel. For instance, a monochrome monitor has 1-bit colour (off & on). Screens like the old B&W NeXT megapixel display and (likely) the iPod screen have 2-bit colour (black, dark gray, light gray, white). If the iPod can do 3 colours, I am certain that it can do 4. 3 colours would require just as much information storage as 2-bit, and the display manufacturer would have to have a pretty weird product set-up.

I'm gonna doubt that this is real, but not because of the graphic music representation. I think this is doable. But this "mock-up" only shows the time elapsed. In v1.1 the iPod software shows both time elapsed and time remaining. I doubt that Apple would take a step backward and go to only one displayed time.

Also I think i saw this same pic on a board some months ago when the iPod first came out. I think someone had done it personally to see what graphics would look like.

This pic is a fake for sure. The 1.2 version by the rumors say that there will be a calendar a date and time and also an equalizer. And I'm quite sure we will see these feautures. All the above enhancements are o the firmaware of the iPod. If you open it with res edit you will see those things. In fact it was always there from the first version of iPod's software.Apple just wants to enable them one at a time.

it would probably be hard to do, with the limited number of buttons, but maybe a PUSH and HOLD the ACTION button could add a song to the current playlist (without starting right away, therefore interrupting the current song)
