Good day,
Two questions :
1. What is the optical resolution of the Mighty Mouse?
2. Can any user of the MM say to us, if it is usable in graphic design software? I've tested it in some stores, but I'm not convinced of its accuracy. It seems to loose precision in small movements.
Thanks a lot!!!

I don't think accuracy will be a problem. I gave MM an honest chance. Yeah, I really WANTED to like it. Alas... The scrollwheel will only work in one direction at the time. No right-clicking without lifting your left finger off the mouse. Hard to access the side buttons while holding the mouse perfectly still.
Frankly, I think it's a disaster – a worthy successor to the old iMac puck mouse.
If the mouse were to have a FURZKY logo on it - would you even consider it? :>

I love the MM. The only thing to make it better IMO would be a bluetooth version.

The accuracy is not a problem at all for graphic design.

Weird, my experience with it is the complete opposite of cla's. It's almost like the less you "think" about it, the better it works. I liken it to how they say with the Segway, you kind of just think about moving in a certain direction and the tiny movements your body makes in that direction causes the machine to move that way. With the Mighty Mouse, the physical response of the click whether it's normal or right-click or the scroll-button click feels basically one in the same, but it 100% accurately responds each time...I love having the functionality of multiple buttons in one Apple shell.
And to be clear, I don't lift my left finger to right-click, and the scroll-button most DEFINITELY can move in two directions at once (well, on an angle) to scroll up/left, down/left, up/right, or down/right if your document is that wide or tall.

It would seem then that Apple has quitely updated their Mighty Mouse. If that's the case, I'm curious to try out the new version.

The Mighty Mouse has always supported diagonal scrolling. Some applications can handle that, most cannot. That's the discrepancy.

You know, I think I may have been wrong. I was at work on my Windows comp when I posted, and I was sure that I hadn't been lifting my index finger when I used the mighty mouse to right-click on my new iMac, as I was thinking that if I *had* been lifting my finger, it wouldn't feel natural. However, when I got home and tested it out, I did have to lift my index finger when I right-clicked. I honestly don't know why it seems so natural for me to do that, as I don't lift my index finger when I use the right-click button on the mouse on the Windows comp I use at my job.
I am usually the one who hates when people make adament statements about something that turns out to be false, so I'm so sorry for the confusion in this case. I just wanted to clear things up, but I will reiterate that I do love the mighty mouse.

I really like the MM. When I figured out that for me, if I keep my palm off of it and just use my fingers, it is very comfortable and natural. The scroll ball is so nice that now it drives me crazy when I get stuck with a wheel.
The side buttons are the only thing I don't like or use.

I just purchased my Mighty Mouse today - from a guy who works at the Apple corporate offices here in Austin - off of Craigslist for a mere $20! It didn't have the original box, but he told me he just got his new iMac and didn't need the mouse the came with it - so it looks like my mouse came from an Intel iMac box.
I held off buying one because I didn't like the idea of having a USB mouse again. I have a Bluetooth Apple mouse, and loved the wireless capability - but so far, I think I prefer the Mighty Mouse. It's lighter, the buttons work wonderfully, and I love the full customization of every button on Tiger. It definitely feels more precise than my Bluetooth mouse, and although I'm still getting used to having a right-click feature again, it's nice to have it back.
Oddly enough, even though I have my right-clicking ability back, I highly doubt I'll use it that much. I used it all the time on my PC when I would save images - but now I much prefer the simple 'drag and drop' system OS X uses. We'll see, though.
If (when) Apple releases a Bluetooth version of this mouse - I'll definitely be first in line to buy one.

It is a cute little thing, reminds us of how lame it was to have a single button mouse, with the advantages of a "full-service" mouse. Though the right click might conflict with the left, when you click to close to the middle, i got used to it in no time and honestly, theres not much else to say, its a mouse and it works.
By the way, if you decide to indulge on some deep-fryed, delicious meals while you use your computer, i must advice you, the scrolling "ball" does not like greasy fingers. after Coronel Sanders and I discussed some issues next to a bucket of his finest nuggets, it took the mouse a couple extra miles to sense scrolling back... true story,
