My QPS Que FireWire drive works with iTunes a treat. But I still prefer burning with Toast.

I "HAD" a QPS CD recorder until I realized that it hung up when trying to burn a cd using DAO with Adaptec Jam... I quicky returned the drive and since picked up the Yamaha 8x8x24 Drive...

I have not burned a coaster yet and have burned well over a couple hundred cds... GET THIS DRIVE! You will be so happy you did... Don't be afraid of it because it's beige...

I have a beige g3, so i guess the yamaha will fit in nicely!
Is it available in USB, as well as fire wire? (I only have USB)

Thanks for the suggestions.

No its not available in USB (only the best for Yamaha).
But it is available in SCSI which you do have.

Are the faster Yamaha drives as reliable as the 8824???

And does iTunes support Burn-Proof????

Well, the 8424 and 8824 are the most reliable drives I have ever used. I haven't had the pleasure of owning the CRW2100, but it seems to be up to Yamaha's usual incredible standards...

No, iToons doesn't support burn proof yet. Only Toast does.
Does Jam?
Disc burner? If iToons doesn't I can't imagine Disc burner supporting it...

Basically the difference is the bandwidth available to the drive on whichever bus you are talking about.
Really, thats a non-issue, as no burner can saturate a FireWire, SCSI or IDE bus.
Not even hard drives can. Well, none that I know of. The 15000rpm Cheetahs? Don't think even they would.
They might kill FireWire or IDE... not SCSI.
So, really, get whichever is more convenient, or cheaper.
I have a SCSI model. The FireWire models are great. I'd go for one of them - an external one.
I don't know anyone with an IDE one.
But you could always put an IDE one in a FireWire housing or something... They're all IDE in the end via FireWire-IDE bridges, and same for the SCSI drives, I think. But I could be wrong on the SCSI ones... but I don't think so.
