I bought my Rio 500 about 13 months ago. In the fall, after pretty constant use, it would turn off every once in a while. Just by itself, in the middle of a song. Other times it would freeze, and all the buttons would stop working except the On/Lock/Off switch. In this case, when it turned to either the Lock or Off positions, it would show the little lock in the corner of the screen, and not turn off. In either of the three positions it remained frozen. These problems became more frequent, and the only way of solving it I could find was taking the battery out and putting it back in. Eventually, when it froze and I reset it, the internal OS began to get corrupted and all kinds of wacky text and symbols would come on the screen - at which point I had to reset the firmware. Now, it just won't turn on. With new batteries and all. Any ideas before I spend $10 to call SONICblue tech support?

I have the same problem. Don't bother wasting your ten dollars. E-mail tech support and they'll send you a new one. Then send the broken one back. They're quite trusting, and customer service is excellent.

I tried eMailing tech support, and didn't get a response... but it's been over a month now, so I'll try again.

Thanks a lot!

Also - was yours under warranty when you replaced it, Bluebomber?
