I have an older USB CD-RW drive manufactured by LaCie. I want to use it with my new iBook, but it will not recognize the drive. LaCie says I need to update the firmware, however, to do so the latest version of SilverLining is required. I DON'T HAVE the latest version of Silverlining and it cannot be downloaded, not even the lite version. I NEED to be able to use this burner! I expect more than a year of use out of such a product, and should not be expected to have to buy LaCie's utilities just so I can update my drive. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Also, will the burner still be compatible with older USB macs if I update the firmware?
