For those considering Apple's new optical mouse, I'd highly recommend you swing by your local Best Buy and check out the Microsoft Explorer USB optical mouse.
For those of us who use both PCs and MACs we have come to enjoy right mouse clicking and the wheel mouse for scrolling through long documents but similar solutions on the MAC were not readily available. MAC owners finally have the same functionality as PC mice.
For those who have not experience right mouse clicking or a wheel on a mouse, they take getting use, to but once you have them down your productivity will noticably increase.
The Apple mouse may look better, but if productivity and functionality is your goal, the MS mouse is an excellent solution.
my 2 cents.

nah, just an old Machead stuck using a PC by day but at night the cape goes on and the MAC comes out to play.
Believe me, you don't know the flak I get for being the ONLY one of 3000 employees with a MAC laptop. I did have some gratification when Apple's stock was up, but now I'm really taking a beating.

I have just bought an MS IntelliMouse Optical for my G3 450 but can't get it to work. Has anyone else had this problem? The light lights up but the cursor doesn't move. Very frustrating. I have installed the latest IntelliPoint software (1.1). Serves me right for buying from the evil one I guess...

The lack of a scroll wheel was what kept me from buying the new apple mouse. I was lusting after it when i first saw it but i LOVE my scroll wheel. Now I'm considering one of the MS keyboards too....I'm really unhappy with the one that came with my yikes G4.

It's not optical, but does it's job. The optical version is even better :=)

My only gripe with the IntelliMouse Explorer is it doesn't glide very well. Its actually rather annoying, and its sometimes a little inaccurate... but thats not too bad.
I like the new Pro Mouse, and alternate between it and my 3 button ball mouse.

Heh I have two microsoft products currently, the MS Natural Pro keyboard for one; I really do like it, though there is no functional power key and it comes with windows buttons - but the feel and typing is unparalleled. My other product is the new Trackball Explorer (I'm a trackball fan). It is about the best trackball I've ever used; 5 buttons and a wheel, great. The optical sensor never messes up because the ball is of consistent texture. They work very nicely on my Beige G3.

I have been looking at the Natural Pro a little because I'm not crazy about the "action" of the Apple Pro Keyboard (my typing is atrocious on it--double letters all over the place).
<<it comes with windows buttons>> Exa, do you mean you can't assign the buttons at the top of the keyboard to function with your Mac? I see that it has keys to control your browser, your CD player, etc...

The latest version of the IntelliPoint drivers is 1.3, I think. That's what I got when I bought my IntelliMouse Optical this monday. Btw, I really like it, except for the two buttons on the sides of the mouse, they're real difficult to press. Anyhow, you don't have to use them, 2 buttons is still more than 1. 4 buttons may be a bit confusing?

According to the review I read in the Swedish edition of Macworld you CAN assign the buttons on the top of the keyboard to function with your Mac. Furthermore, the keayboard doesn't ship with Mac drivers (as the MS mice does), you have to download them yourself from the MS website.
