Hello,

Doing some google searches, I see a lot of quirks about USB drives and I unfortunately seem to have run in to one of my own.

I use a Seagate Pocket Drive. Last night, I ejected it as I was packing up, but forgot to actually unplug it and take it with me.

This morning I saw that it was plugged in but unmounted. A few moments later I got the "Device Removal" warning , despite not having unplugged anything and I got the grey restart screen.

When I rebooted, I ran software update and shutdown.

Now that I'm up and running again, the USB drive will not mount. Sometimes the activity light is on for a while and it still won't mount. Then suddenly I get the "Device Removal" warning again arbitrarily as I haven't unplugged anything.

Disk Utility does not list the drive at all, which scares me.

What happened? Did it get cooked overnight somehow? I'm bummed because I just picked this thing up a couple of weeks ago and it's been very handy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Restarts only work for me with the SmartDisk FotoChute. USB 2.0 seems quirky with the PowerBook, at least. Sorry, no help.
