I'm looking for a Sony Maticka (sp?) digital camcorder. A school I work for is doing a bunch of computer upgrades and wanted to get one of these for use with our new iMacs.

Does anyone know where I can find one of these? One person from another school claims to have gotton one for $599, but that seems low to me. But price aside, if someone could tell me where to get my hands on one, I'd be greatful! Thanks

Not sure if this is what you're looking for or not. Outpost.com carries the DCRTRV6 Sony Mini DV Digital Camcorder ($1099.00), among other models. It should work with the Firewire input on the new iMacs. (Sony makes or made a digital still camera line called Mavica... could that be where the name came from?) A big advantage to purchasing from Outpost is that they don't charge for their overnight shipping.

There is a company I know of that deals exclusivly with schools and carries technology products, including the Mavica line. It is Holcomb's and their phone number is 800-362-9907. I'm sure someone there can help you out.

Hey I was just coming back to say I found it. As Indigo Boy said it's the Mavica. They had me looking for a product that didn't exist .

And it's only a still cam. So I guess if they want the camcorder they're going to have to fork over some more money!
