Just updated to 9.2.1. Now red light on Maxtor 1394 external firewire HD stays on when drive isn't even powered on. Under 9.1 used to click on for a moment and then remain off. Should I worry?

Running Firewire 2.8.4

Mine does not do that in 9.2.1 or X. Can you hear the drive reading/writing?

Yes, tried 3.4 and all hell broke loose. Had to reset everytime I wanted to mount my Maxtor. Just recently updated my Apple Firmware. Could that be the bug?

All I can say is that I didn't install it, and haven't had any problems with my maxtor FW drive. It is used almost everyday. Do you unmount it before sleeping/shutting down your Mac? I've noticed w/ FW drives that they suggest doing this (command-Y in 9, command-e in X).

Is there also a shortcut key combination to mount the drive or does the computer have to be rebooted?

I updated the maxtor drivers and software and I am also noticing some different behaviour. Nothing so far which is causing any real difficulties.

there's the unplugging the FW cable, waiting a few seconds and plugging it back in shortcut.
