Hey everyone --

I've got a 40GB external firewire HD at the moment, and it comes with a fan in the back that makes a ton of noise. I need to buy another drive, but if I buy another one like my current one my noise level will double.

Anyone know of a large (40-80gb) external FW drive that's SILENT?

Why don't you open it up and disconnect the fan? I doubt it's necessary - I have 3 firewire drives, and none have a fan. The only noise is the actual drive itself.

I use it for DV, and am very happy with it.
