Can anyone explain why USB 2.0 CD RW drives consistently about $20 less expensive than FireWire? I always bought the volume explanation when FW was just getting off the ground. No one can tell me that there are more USB 2.0 ports out there than FW. I want to jump to the "favoratism" thing but I think there's probably another explanation.

1) Intel is pushing it and they carry more weight then Apple.
2) I don't think that USB 2.0 has as much as power as firewire.

Dont forget something - anyone who purchases a USB2 device, in order to get USB2 speed they will have to also purchase a USB2 card for their system......
