I'm trying to hook up a UMAX 1220 to a new key lime iBook. I've followed the instructions exactly, and checked UMAX's web site, which provides no useful information.
The problem is that whenever I launch the VistaScan DA (or try to scan from any other app, PhotoDeluxe, etc) I get an error saying "Could not find scanner". It suggests I unplug and re-plug the USB cable, which I've tried several times. The USB cable is good, I tried both the cable that shipped with it and another know good one.
Starting up with MacOS 9 all and only the scanner extensions makes no difference. The iBook DOES recognize it because it shows up in the Apple System Profiler. Also, the little lamp app automatically launches whenever the scanner gets plugged in, so I think it must be a software problem/conflict.
Any ideas?
