Ok, as I posted on another thread...I went to a CompuSmart today, and saw some new hardware - notably, a new 17' Apple CRT hooked to a Cube and the older graphite 21' model running on (they said) a dual 450MHz G4.

I was very surprised to note that the display on both monitors kept...moving. I have a 400MHz G4 running an OLD Apple MultiScan 15' AV - you know, very old (hey...I'm a university student. Even my underwear has holes... ). ANYWAYS...I have never noticed this on mine, but looking at those machines immediately brought this to light - the image border or outline kept moving, constantly resizing, and the image itself was constantly being darkened or lightened and having colour changes.

Now, I first saw this on the 17', but it was far more noticable on the 21' monitor. It had a multicoloured desktop pattern, and it was fading in and out and going from dark to lighter orange.

Is this normal? What gives???? I've never seen this in my whole life....I think it would annoy the hell out of me, since it was definitely something that was easy to spot....

It could just be magnetic interference from nearby computers and displays. Usually the pack these stores full and place displays far th close to another.

No, that wouldn't make sense at all. They were no closer together than, say, the average computer laboratory.... In fact, the hardware was quite far apart, as in probably 7 or 8 feet.....
