I am looking to buy a scanner. Some of these have USB and some SCSI output.
As I am using a Powerbook with USB only, can anyone offer advice on SCSI to USB or firewire converters? Does USB to firewire make any sense? Can it be done?
Thanks.

I am looking for slide scanners.
USB is slower than SCSI or Firewire. Moreover, the new Nikon scanner, USB, is much more expensive than an earlier, but still available, SCSI scanner.
Again, can one do SCSI to firewire or USB?
Thanks.

There are several USB slide scanners available. What kind of price range and specs are you looking at? As for the Nikons, so far I've been less than impressed with the (Windoze) drivers.
By the way, my Epson flatbed USB scanner is fairly fast compared to older SCSI scanners in its range. SCSI doesn't necessarily mean fast.

I appreciate your interest.
Again, can anyone tell me if a SCSI output can be converted to firewire or USB?
Thanks.

Take a look at MacMall, ClubMac and other catalogs. I have seen several adaptors you can use.

Works very well, but make sure your scanner can be used with it.
