Hi,
I will soon have a spare Apple 20 inch LCD, as I'm planning to replace my old G4 Powermac with a new iMac. Does anybody know if it's possible to connect the LCD to a home DVD player to use in place of my ancient and small CRT tv?
Thanks in advance,
Nike

Not without an expensive scan converter.
If you sell the Apple 20", the procedes would probably cover the price of a Dell 20" LCD with s-video and composite input ports.

I agree. There's no practical way to do it. Selling the Apple display is a much smarter solution.
I mean, the least-expensive way of doing it would be to get a DVD player with non-HDCP DVI output, plus a DVI->ADC converter. But that's at least $200. Makes no sense.

I've heard people say that using the Apple LCD's as tvs sucks, they say the screen is too bright for normal tv signals. Any truth to this, or is it just opinions?

If anything the Apple LCDs are on the darker end of the spectrum, not the brighter.

Thanks for the help, people. I guess I won't bother.
