I need help!

I bought TDL veloCD 24/10/40 IDE internal CD-RW drive and put it in my Pyro Firewire drive kit.

I assumed it would work no problem, but turned out be imcompatible with iTunes.
The drive can read audio CD very fast (from iTunes), but doesn't write at all and iTunes simply doesn't recognize the drive as CD-RW drive.

Toast Titinium for OS X does recognize the drive and can write data with the drive, but Audio CD burning is not available yet on Toast OS X version....

Has anybody had similar problem and hopefully come up with some workaround, or hack or patch or something?

I bought the drive to save time, but with this situation, it's muc worse than before (I detached CD-RW from my G4 - Matsushita 8X CD-RW and put it in Pyro, worked flawlessly with iTunes.) and now I have to go back to OS 9 for CD burning.

If you haven't already, update Toast to version 5.0.2, update iTunes to version 2.0.2 and update to Apple Authoring Support version 1.1.3.

I did all those things recently with a LiteON 24/10/40 Mech in a Firewire case (mentioned in a previous thread) and all was well and compatible with everything.

If you've done all that and still no go, then chances are the Mech isn't iTunes compatible yet. Check the Apple iTunes compatiblity list. http://www.apple.com/itunes/notes.html (Keep in mind, I've found that this list is highly incomplete though...certainly newer mechs like the LTR-24101B aren't listed).

Whoops, make that Authoring Support 1.1.5 which just came out! Slowly, Apple seems to be adding support for more and more 24x burners.

Thank you for your post, CrashHardware.

I'll try your suggestions when I get home tonight.

But, have you had any success with your burner under OS X?
If so, what are the things you have done?
I really like to use my burner in OS X and don't want to bother to boot back to OS 9 just for that purpose.
