Part of the reason it would be nice if Apple could make a phone. The Razr is one of the newest and best (supposedly) phones out there and it still has shortcomings. I have never seen a phone I really like. Don't need cameras and all that extra stuff either. Just a good, solid, easy to use intuitive phone. And then of course, it has to work with your carrier.

I tried a Razr and returned it after 30 days. Great form factor, but a slow, backwards interface. Too many unintuitive menus, too many button presses required to do things. I went for a Sony W800, and haven't looked back. Such a great phone. The K750 fits the same bill.

I just got one today and I can't get the bluetooth file exchange to work between the phone and my G5; I've been reading and people say Verizon broke it or something. Can I transfer stuff using a USB cable?

The cable method will work. Verizon has great coverage but is A$$ for features.

Ok I just found the right USB cable in my closet, and it seems as though that won't work either. I plug it in; nothing happens. Is there a way I could mount it on the desktop?

I heard that the the horrible Moto OS doesn't even have a quick way to put the phone in silent mode. Is this true?

No. Hold down the "volume down" button and the ring volume goes down in steps (very quickly) to zero. I hear it in class all the time, unfortunately not always before class.

It isn't "horrible," especially not for a phone OS. It's just not spectacular, that's all.

I really like my RAZR, and my wife likes hers. And if I recall correctly iSync WILL see it, but it just won't do anything more than sync calendar and phone book data. We use the desktop PC with Motorola's Phone Tools to do all the customizing stuff and ring tone creation.

That is exactly what they said in the review and I couldn't believe it, stupid.

It's not one-click, but here's what I do:

With the phone closed, press the "volume up" button and the phone will cycle through the various ring/vibrate modes each time you press the lower button ("smart key"). When you're in the right mode, press the volume up button again to exit.

Edit: Glenn, Bluetooth file exchange will work, just not with a crippled Verizon phone. I use it to transfer photos, video clips, and mp3s (which can be used as ring tones) all the time.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.

Nah, there's two other ways to do it as well.

1. Turning the volume down all the way puts it in silent mode

2. By pressing the volume keys with the phone closed, you get a menu that lets you switch between Loud, Soft, Vibrate, Vibrate & Ring, Vibrate Then Ring, and Silent

3. Going to Setings -> Audio lets you change the ring style as well (loud, soft, vibrate, vib & ring, vib then ring, silent). This one has the advantage of not making a "beep" sound when you do it.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
