I know I'm throwing a hail mary here, but:
My contract recently ran up for my Nextel service, and I'm looking to get away from them (I am under this crazy notion that I might be able to get a little more for my money.)
But my options up here in northern Michigan are few. Nextel and Sprint seem to be the only national carriers with local offices, with Cellular One and AllTel picking up the regional end.
I actually attend school in Ann Arbor, Michigan (near Detroit) where carriers abound, but during the summers I'm in the north (near Traverse City).
So, I guess I'm curious if there are any folks from the board in this area who have had good luck with a national provider in northern Michigan.
The maps for most national carriers (Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile) all seem to have pretty good coverage up here, but I worry that if I pick up one of those pretty digital phones, that I'll be continually lost in analog land.
Any locals have any thoughts? Or perhaps any folks who are using a carrier with no local sales / service centers or with potentially sketchy service?
Like I said, it's a hail mary. Forum posts don't get much more ambiguous, but these local providers have got me worried, and the total absence of national names is equally troubling.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
TeamTC
