the other day my printer finally came in. an epson 1280 refurbished product. hooked it up to my 17" intel imac no problem, printer like it should. however with the first print a key came out with the freaking paper. no key i own, nor have i ever seen before. that really pissed me off, from every print there after - keyless prints - a crease is made on all of the pages, on the left side of the page all the way from top to bottom (full bled crease i guess you could say).

now im sending the printer back, im not sure what epsons deal is with an issue like this, im guessing ill get a product of equal value or something. however if i can get my money back does anybody have printer reccomendations? specifically id like...

1. 13x19
2. photo quality - print off 20d.
3. speed.

thanks much. wasnt sure where to post this.
great printer and quality, just that crease is unacceptable.

OK, well I was going to recommend the Canon i9900, but it seems to have been just replaced by the PIXMA Pro9000 and Pro9500. The Pro9000 appears to be an 8-color dye ink printer, just like the i9900, while the Pro9500 is a 10-color pigment printer.

I'm sure stores still have i9900's in stock, and the new models should be coming soon. I think any one of those three would work brilliantly. (The Canon printers are particularly good at speed, compared to everyone else, and the quality is superb.)

<self-serving plug> I have a flawless Canon i9900 for sale in the marketplace. It has been used lightly and includes the original box and everything. </self-serving plug>

Epson sucks... I told myself I'd never buy an Epson again!

Anyone have suggestions on a Photo quality Laser Printer?

None of them will be photo Quality. HP makes good laser printers and BAD inkjets.

Yeah, um, try a Canon some time if you want to see what cheap ink really is.

And don't insult other members. One of our rules here is to remain pleasant.

As of right now, I'm cool with other venders. I'll keep everyone posted if I add anyone to my sh*t list....

I'm sure, if it works fine for you, people LOVE Epson. I personally didn't enjoy my experience with Epson and won't buy from Epson again. I'll probably buy an HP Laser Jet once I get a Power Tower (PowerMac or Mac Pro).
