Hi all:

I'm interested in buying a CDRW for rev B imac, which doesn't have firewire, only USB 1.0.

I'm still seeing USB cdrw on market, but mostly 2.0. Will USB 2.0 peripherals work with USB 1.0?

I'd rather not buy an older CDRW that only says USB 1.0, as it's already old. Although, I haven't seen that many on the market.

Ideas?

BACKward compatible.

Yes, any device labeled USB will work with a USB-enabled cmputer. If one of the two devices is a lower specification, the connection works at the older, slower speed.

If you're buying the CDR-W for the Rev. B. iMac, it's not going to benefit you to buy a faster drive, due to the slower connection. If you buy a new Mac later, unless it's a low-end iBook, or TiBook, it's going to have a burner built in, and even if it doesn't, it will have FireWire on it. I would buy a USB 1.1 spec burner for less money and leave it at that.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?
