Just a little update from the frozen north.
I went in to my mac dealer to buy an iPod today to find they had none. Just can't keep them in stock apparently.
Some salesman quotes:
"Everybody wants an iPod"
"They come in one day, they're all gone the next"
"We've got a stack of orders this big <gestures a 2" stack of paper>"
"Might not be able to fulfill all the orders"
Sounds like iPod is selling sweet here.

Just tell me, all you UK guys, how does the power adaptor ship in the UK? In Hong Kong, the "corner" of the adaptor is missing and instead we have to plug it into a huge-ass cable. Looks really bad, and it's totally impractical for travelling.

Don't have my iPod yet, but it's my understanding that there's an additional cable such as you describe.

I have been told that you have to plug a stereo style adaptor into the plug.
Unfortunate that we can't get a British version of the plug, but the I'll be charging it via firewire more often than not, so it shouldn't make that much differece.
My iPod should be delivered by the end of the week!!! I can't wait!

We're not that bad you know
I went into my local John Lewis to pick one up, but they didn't have any in stock either. I'm not even going to bother trying PC World

My local PC World didn't even know that Apple made an MP3 player!!
Also, I wouldn't buy anything Apple from there, afterall they are trying to sell the SoundSticks for £199 and I got mine for £129 from the Apple Store!

I know, I love Scotland really - had one of the best weekends ever in Glasgow
Try Micro Anvica, they've got them in stock. And they're good with delivery too.

Apple Store in Scotland pls....
Apple dealer in Scotland the one in edinburgh were a little rude last time I went in to make a purchase possibly (Dual G4 and 17" CRT) I have dreadlocks you see and I got taken away from the demo box as a man in a suit appeared and was just browsing. So I bought it from the apple online store.
Only been there to get my free 10.1 CD (100 copies less than 20mins according to there rep). I arrived at 10:15 (20 mins after opening and I got the second last one).
That day I bought Tony Hawks 2 as well.....
Bought my iPod from the apple store too. Packed and shipping with 6 hours from tiwan (sp). I am impressed cannot wait to pick it up.
Cheers Edd

Some of us have our iPods already though. :-)
And yes, the UK power adaptor does have a bolt-on extra bit big enough for the UK's 3-pin sockets, although there's no extra cable like the Hong Kong guy suggests.

interesting... I just got an iPod and it came with an extra power cable (like the ones for a stereo) and no "corner-piece" for the iPod power brick...
kennethMac, can you post a pic of your power brick? That would be a cool configuration to have for travelling.
By the way, Mikro Anvika - big Apple dealers in Central London - were out of stock of iPods at the weekend, got mine at Procom (Tottenham Ct. Rd.) who had "just got some more in". The iPod boxes were still in brown postal packages from the trade dealer!
