I'm having a little trouble here with my DSL. Let me give some background: It is an "efficient networks" DSL modem and I am using a program called "enter net" to connect. The problem is, each time I change my mac's monitor resolution, I lose my connection to my DSL provider, if I am logged on or not. Any idea? This hasn't happened to me before, ever since my clean install. Would there be any extensions that would keep this from happening?

Perhaps before the clean install, you (or someone else) had fiddled some extension/application names to cause the connect routine to load first on boot. The clean install would have restored the default names (& boot order).

The connect routine goes like this, I turn the modem on and it connects to my dsl provider, whether the mac is on or not (resetting this doesnt help). Then once my mac os has started up, it launches a program called "enter net" which logs me onto my dsl provicer (in the start up items folder). If I reconnect and stuff at any time and I change my mac's monitor resolution, I lose my dsl connection for no apparent reason.

That's bizarre. Do you leave the EnterNet app running Exa? Or do you close out of it. I use the ENet app to log onto my DSL provider, but it's never been a problem. You can close the window (which quits the application) but doesn't drop the connection. Maybe that will help.

I also know that the company had to patch ENet because it doesn't work correctly under OS 9 (but I thought that was related to OT and nothing else, but I could be wrong about that). What system are you using?

And as far as I know, it only installs one extension.

Aye, I close the enet app after I connect... but the thing is, even when the mac is _starting up_, and the resolutions change, I lose connection, even if I'm not logged on yet! Its really weird... And this is under OS 9, so I'll look into that patch...

Exa,

I found it here on my machine. It's only 1 MB if you'd like me to email it.

Can't access my iDisk space for some reason. If/when I can, I'll be sure to post it in my public folder.

But what version is it? I already have version 1.09.... and I'm not sure it'd help anyhow...

Exa,

That's the latest version. I was wrong, however. EnterNet installs two extensions. I'm unaware of any other extension that may help.

When you did your clean install, did you update OT back to the most recent version (I'm currently using OT 2.6.1)? Could that be the cause of the trouble?

I'm sorry I can't be of any further help. If I hear of anything, I'll be sure to report back!

Not OT, I have the latest version... and I have all of the enternet software installed properly. Oh well, its not a major problem, the dsl reconnects once it has disconnected without much problem...

Exa, have you tried deleting the preferences to the Monitors control panel and EnterNet 300? Maybe the preferences have become corrupt since the clean install. EnterNet 300 is giving me problems as well. Everytime I put my computer (iMac DVSE) to sleep when it's connected, it freezes shortly after waking up. I get the "Finder unexpectedly quit" error. Everything works fine until I restart the computer. The mouse still moves but everything else is completely frozen. I have Mac OS 9.0.4 with EnterNet 1.09. I haven't download Apple's latest enternet drivers or rom update yet. I'm hoping that might fix it. In the mean time, I just close the connection before I put my computer to sleep. That seems to keep my iMac from freezing.

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!
