I've noticed several posts from people having issues with cable modem access under X.1. I have decided to make the plunge to cable internet access- and trying to decide which modem to buy.
I would appreciate any recommendations for an X-friendly cable modem.

Thanks

My cable modem came with my service. It is a 3com, and works great with any OS...

My modem is a NetGear. It is trash. It has to be power-cycled (Unplugged for 3 minutes) at least every 2 days or you start to loose your connection. Its really a shitty one, my friend got one and he said he never loses his connection, its a phone modem. He also lives a block away, so yes, it IS the modem that makes the difference, so stay away from NetGear. My modem isn't actually plugged into my G4 though, its plugged into my old Quadra, which routes the internet to my other Macs.

Like cteselle, my cable modem came with my service, it's a Toshiba PCX1100, but I don't connect my Mac directly to the Cable Modem, I have a Linksys Wireless Router connected to the cablem modem, and my mac is connected the router, it works really well.
