Are Mac And PC models of ATi cards the same? They have different ports, but will a "PC" Rage128 work like one for a mac with a DB15 connector would? I wanna cheap 16MB video card for my G4, but I want VGA, i know connectors can be had for like $2, but on ebay, the cards are much more plentyful than the mac ones. Then again, will ANY old ATi cards work on my G4 OSX or will only the ones that mac sysems currently come with work?

You won't have any luck with a PC card. While ATI does make Mac drivers for their cards, there are instructions that are hard coded on the card itself that make it incompatible.

The way around that is for video card makers to manufacture their cards with a 'flashable' ROM. The Voodoo cards used to do this but I don't believe ATI ever has. Unfortunately, Voodoo cards are currently unsupported under OS X, so you won't get any 3-D acceleration.

Try and find a old Radeon card. ATI just released their new ATI Radeon chipset, so you should be able to find a closeout price on the older Mac card once the new card is available for the Mac. And the Radeon comes with a VGA adaptor...

I have a Radeon in the AGP and an Orion in a PCI slot on my duallie. Using Apple's OEM drivers, they both work well on 9.2 or 10.1
The Orion runs a 17" VGA and the Radeon pushes an Apple MultiSync 20", both at decent refresh rates.
Pretty sure the cards are different. I'd love to be able to put a Radeon All-in-Wonder in here so I could watch TV on my Mac again.
