I've read that the Powerprint USB to parallel adapter will not work w/ VPC & I know from experience that the Keyspan USB to serial adapter is whacky w/ my old Epson Stylus Color II (which is now broken).

Has anyone tried non-USB Epson, Canon or HP printers w/ their respective USB to parallel adapters under VPC? Do they work or is it the same old problem? Epson's tech support has not tested the adapter w/ VPC.

I was not able to get USB adaptors to
work until I switched to VPC 3.0 running
under OS 9. This was part of a several
week saga invloved in getting LEGO Mindstorms
software to "talk" to the IR tower which
comes with the Robotics Invention Kit. I
have a G4/450 with a KeySpan USA-28. I
finally did manage to get LEGO CD Mindstorms
working on G4. In case anyone else is trying
this the incantation was
1. OS 9
2. VPC 3.0
3. KeySpan USA-28 (1.7.2 drivers)
assign COM 1 = USB Printer
4. Patch LEGO SPIRIT.OCX to ignore CTS/RTS http://www.enteract.com/~dbaum/lego/.../patch_dh.html

Not "intuitively obvious" ...in a way
I'm glad it's not that easy to make a Mac
behave like a Windows machine.
