hi,

I have a LaserJet 5L printer connected to a PC, and I am
planning to buy my first Mac (the new iBook). I am wondering
if I will be able to connect my printer to the iBook, knowing
that there is no parallel port on the Mac... Is there a way
to use a cable/adaptator which transform the parallel connector
to USB ?

Or another way would be to use Samba & access to the shared printer
on Windows through ethernet/Airport ?

Thanks for you comments.

There's a product called PowerPrint USB, available online and at CompUSA and other retailers, that will allow you to hook up your 5L.

Does it have an ethernet port? Does it support Postscript or only PCL? If it is a Postscript printer, and it has an ethernet port, you can probably hook it up that way, via a cheap hub or a crossover cable. I'd recommend this approach if available, since the other is a software solution and this would be pretty much using built-in items.

Shop smart, shop S-Mart! You got that!!?!!
He can be fixed -- you can't.

It does not have an ethernet port (only // centronic) and only PCL...
Any idea if it is going to work ?
