Installed HP part#J4135A Jet Direct adapter card into a HP4100 laser r printer. It provides a USB port for direct connection to a beige G3 runiing OS 9.0.4. I'm finding that after prolonged period of inactivity the computer can no longer 'find' the printer and the only apparent solution is to cycle the printer and / or the computer off / on to regain access.
Any clues as to what else might 'get in the way' and render the machine off line.
BTW, it's the only USB device connected to the Mac.
