Here's the deal from TRANSintl.com :

256 MB SDRAM [CL2] for PM G3 & G4 YIKES

for 42 $

1- I think that all pre-gigabit ethernet G4 (I have a DP G4 500) use the same RAM right?

2- Is it possible that the RAM will be incompatible with the last Apple firmware upgrade?

Thanks a lot.

As long as it is either PC100 or PC133 (either will work) it should be fine. Most vendors have now have their RAM up to specs. so that any firmware updates should not be a problem.

I wish I lived in the States and could get deals like that. I paid $180 (Canadian) for 256 MB recently. That's just $60 Canadian for what you paid. Grr-ness.

But you should also pay attention to the speed of the RAM. I own a Power Mac G4(earliest version, with G4-400) which comes with a 64MB Samsung Ram Module. You would not finr it useful should you have your original Ram untouched because the RAM Module is very cheap.......
You can never imagine that if you work with Hitachi, Siemens or Kingmax RAM Module because they are amongst the best I have ever seen, with -60ns. Those with a lower price would only have a speed of -75ns, which might slow down your Mac. You add Ram becuse you see your Mac clawing on the ground, and add something like this would never sevre the function.........
