Hi...I have a Performa 6400/180 which came with 8mbs soldered and 8mb in a slot...just after purchase I bought 16mb which went into the other slot...I just bought 64mb which my friend put in the slot which had the 8mb...by my calculations I should have 88mbs of memory but when I bring up the "about this computer" panel it shows: Built in 56MB where it once showed 32..anyone know where I went wrong?

I can think of 2 possibilities. Your machine is reading that RAM as 32 not 64MB. Either they shipped you the wrong thing, or it isn't the right refresh rate. 6400's needed a 2k refresh rate for their RAM. Most other RAM was 4k. If you got a 4k refresh, it could read the capacity wrong and display what you have showing now.

thanks Paul..I did call Sonnet and ask them about the 2k/4k problem and they assured me that when I entered my computer identification they would send the right card...I will re-contact and see if they can explain.
