I have a G4-400, which I think comes with the ATI 128...anyways, I'm sick of not being able to play my DVDs through my TV in my dorm room. So, I'm looking for a decent video card (b/c i would liek to be able to hook up a second monitor and have some good specs to run it really decently), which would have some kind of RCA video out, and maybe an S-video out..but more importantly the RCA video out connection. Any recommendations would be helpful!!!

P.S. - Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum or whatever...

Thanks.

ATI Radeon...? I think that has an S-video out, and probably some sort of S-Video to composite adapter. From the faq on their website (http://www.ati.com/na/pages/faq/mac/radeon_mac_faq.html#17):

Q17: Does RADEON™ MAC EDITION support TV-output?

A17:
Yes. Both composite and S-Video outputs are supported.

Yeah, I was thinking of that card....but I'm maybe looking for something a little cheaper...I mean...even if it doesn't have a million features..something that would at least put my dvds up on my tv screen...but i am thinking of those radeons..i can get one for 99 on ebay...new...

I'd be putting it in a PCI slot, so I'm guessing I coulodn't buy the AGP version..i'd have to get a PCI version?

ya what ever you do don't mix the AGP cards in a PCI slot they won't fit so you will have to put it into a PCI slot if its a PCI card. Also what monitor do you have If you need and ADC for your 17" studio display you are forced into getting an AGP radeon with ADC currently 250, if not then you can just get the regular card.

Outpost has the Mac AGP Radeon for $199.99 plus a $30.00 rebate making it $169.99 that's about the best deal around. http://shop3.outpost.com/product/69751/

Well, right now, I have a 17" NEC MultiSync FE700. I would l ike to run this one off my current card, and maybe purchase another monitor to run with the PCI Radeon card. But, are you saying this is not possible?

Also, anyone have the radeon card, and how do they like it's performance.....the only people I personally know with the card are PC users, and theirs have I think 64 MB, and a few different features, so it's difficult to compare. Any feedback, and all that I have gotten so far, is greatly appreciated.

Well since you have a non apple monitor that will work, but like you said you will have to use the PCI card if you want to keep the ATI rage.
