Looking to upgrade hard drive in Pismo Powerbook. Will Seagate's
Ultra ATA/100 60gb for laptops fit the bill. Best Buy is running a
special on these. Any other technical issues I should consider when
choosing a replacement drive. Thought I'd run the idea through the
forum before I run out and get one.

Yes, any ATA/100 drive up to 128GB should work fine.

Best Buy's not responsible for faulty Seagate hard drives, Seagate is.

I know the wallstreets can take slightly thicker 2.5" drives, can the pismos take them as well? I mention only because I'm not sure if they would be likely to bounce around in there and loosen themselves.

You can use a 9mm drive in a Pismo without issue. I do. Many people do. Even tooki.

The drive is screwed in (via screws held in rubber grommets), it won't be bouncing anywhere. AFAIK, they don't make 12.5mm high drives any more. They were almost entirely gone by the time the Pismo came out, so in fact, Pismos all shipped with 9mm drives.

Tooki is right. Even though Pismos have room for 12.5mm hard drives, I have never seen one for sale.
My Mac is a Pismo G4/550: 1GB RAM, 40GB 5.4k, Airport, DVD-R, and still black, silent and curvaceous!

could i ask for some advice, on which hard drive to get for my pismo, with g4 upgrade (which i love btw, definitly increased speed, and no problems). so i'd like to get a 80gb drive or maybe a 100 or 120 gb, and am looking at the Hitachi travelstar 7200RPM/8MB 7K100 for $165. any reason not to get this? i've read it may be loud?? and hot?? but i'd love to take advantage of that speed...
or should i settle for a 5200rpm, and if so, any recomendations for make/model...?
i do a fair bit of heavy photshop use, cad, and a little audio stuff, as well as the usual email, web, cd burning.
cheers.
