what size allen wrench? and would a torx screwdriver work? (I've never used a torx screwdriver but they seem to be geared towards nerd-type-devices). Please forgive my ignorance and don't tell my dad-- he owns a hardware store!

thanks for the help... now i'm gonna go buy a few jugs of compressed air so i can hopefully get all that crap outta there! oh the price we apple users pay to stay on the cutting edge of fashion...

not sure on the size of the Allen Wrench, I just know it is extremely small, it came in my allen wrench kit, torx do not work, I guess Apple decided to make it more difficult to open. I tried compressed air it just gets the crap more evenly distributed.

I managed to get the four screws on the back of the keyboard out but the plastic all around the keys isn't popping off and the little clips on the front of the keyboard (under the left and right control key, the left and right command key, and the space bar) seem to be breaking off, although I can still snap the plastic back even if the clips are broken. It looks like something else might need to be removed for the plastic to pop off and give me access to the bottom. Any ideas? Does this sound familiar to when you opened up yours? Thanks

And oh yeah, I didn't use an allen wrench to open up the keyboard I just used a really small flathead screwdriver and it luckily unscrewed the four screws.

When I cleaned out my pro keyboard I used a size .050 allen wrench. It was the smallest one I could find.

agasthya - To finish taking apart your keyboard, you need to remove 3 very tiny phillips screws.
They are located underneath the Caps Lock key, the colon/semi colon key and the #6 key on the numberic pad.

It's about time for me to do a little spring cleanin on my keyboard again. There's all sorts of crap building up in there.

Just pry the keys off with a flat head screw driver. They pop off pretty easy.

I haven't dared pry off any keys fearing that they will brake and I don'y really look underneath my keyboard. but around the sides of the keys are very dirty so I will take my compressor and pump it up to 100PSI and clean that mo fo out

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

I searched this thread to find the size of the Allen key as I I just spilt coffee on mine (black no milk or sugar) and the local
Apple shop recommended a good wash in a bucket of warm
water. I have done this and its sitting in front of the window drying.

I'll tell you how it goes !

Well it took awhile to dry so I decided to open it. I can verify that
it is a .05 Allen Key. I am stuck at the moment so if anyone knows the
answer I would be grateful.

I have removed

(1) 4 allen keys holding base on

(2) 3 phillips heads under the keys mentioned above

(3) 2 phillips heads holding USB cable in.

There looks like a remaining screw with an earthing wire attached
at the top near the uSB cable. Its head would be just under the product label just before the world Pro.
I can't feel an opening there though when I press. Is that
holding it together ?

Thanks - Michael
