I currently have a Mitsubishi 1795DT monitor, (most incredible 17'' I've seen price/performance wise) I'm now running a 2 monitor system and I'm going to replace the very old 15'' monitor that I'm using with another 17'' monitor (I can't aford a 19'' and I don't want one, long story) However I have been told that the current Mitsubishi and Sony Totaly Flat displays have nasty blue stripes across them. Now I am familiar with the Trinitron Hold wires and they don't bother me at all, has anyone used the current monitors from these 2 companies, I was just very supprised to hear this as they have always had good products in the past.

i don't know what those blue stripes are. i have a dell (sony) flat 21" CRT and it's great. of course the 2 stabilizers are visible, but that's the deal with trinitron-like technology.

I have a Flat G-400 Sony 19" and there are no blue stripes...

Just the two Very little grey lines as usual...

Trinitron is a very proven tube, I've got a Trinitron TV from around '84 that's still working great. I've got a pair of Sony GDM-17SE2T 17" displays and love them.

It's also hard to beat the 17" studio display (if you have an ADC connection), though it's not cheap.

I have never seen any good reason for buying an Apple 17" studio display compared to a Sony or Mitsubishi 17" CRT given the substantial price difference (Apple CRT costs around 50 per cent more that the other ones) .

Maybe the real difference is style (i.e., the color of enclosure) and maybe this makes a difference to some very style-minded people.

The Trinitron (Sony) and Diamondtron (Mitsubishi) 17" CRT´s are both great monitors and certainly good enough for me...

Walter.
