I just bought a Newer MiniStack 320gb. for my Dual MDD Firewire 800 Powermac. I partitioned the drive into two volumns. I shut down the Mac had the external running and restarted. Both volumes
mounted. I decided to install Tiger which stalled. I tried two more times with no luck.
By the way I have the switch on the back of the drive set to1394A as per instructions. I restarted the Mac with the external already turned on and the Mac went to terminal and froze. Something about a 3.6 firmware issue. Each time I restart from a freeze my startup disk has been changed.
Waht do you think? I just installed two new sticks of 512 Ram and the machine is stable without the drive connected. How do I update firmware if needed and what is the latest firmware? I see newer has included firmware updates in a folder but no mention if I would need them.
Epitaph: In the end a true patriot.
