I was just over at the Apple Store poking around. Did anyone notice that the shipping date for the Apple Pro Speakers has slipped to 25 days? On Friday, it was only 1 day. I guess the demand for these things must be greater than expected.
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

Speaking of....The Apple Store says...

"The analog-based speakers require systems with an Apple speaker minijack. They are not USB-based speakers. Currently, Apple Pro Speakers can only be used with new Power Mac G4 systems announced on Jan. 9, 2001."

Does that mean the Apple Pro Speakers are compatable with the Ti Powerbook or just the G4 towers?

the Pro speakers are only supported by the new G4 Towers. one of the features of the new towers is the "built-in 10W amp to power Apple Pro speakers." No other computer has the built-in amp, so no other computer can power the speakers. Here's the TIL article: http://til.info.apple.com/techinfo.nsf/artnum/n25236

in the grand tradition of "Slot-loading iMac," "PowerMac G4 (AGP Graphics), and other great models identified by features, comes the new G4 as the "Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio)"
