If so, I might as well pick up the 15" as I still can't afford that kind of money.

Yes, most 17" LCD are going for that price with the exception of some cheaper analog LCDs which sort of defeats have the reason for getting a LCD in the first place.
I just ordered a Princeton SENergy 750 17.4" LCD for that price range and it has dual DVI and analog inputs.
