I just received a Kodak DC280 digital camera that I bought off eBay. Camera is in mint condition, all accessories, cables, software, etc. are included.

I fired the Image Capture (OS X application that transfers files from camera to computer via USB.) but nothing seems to happen. The help files simply states to set camera to "connect" mode, which I have, and then connect the USB cable and launch Image Capture. Well, nothing happens. The batteries seem to be fine, but could they be too low? The indicator screen indicates that the batteries are full power.

I was really looking forward to being to quickly download pictures via USB into OS X. I don't use OS 9, and don't want to have to revert to it unless I really, really have to. Bad enough I have to, to use the DVD Player software (won't under OS X...yet).

If anybody has experience with this, I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Luc

I also have the DC280, but am still on OS 9. The battery has nothing to do with it. I'm sure it's an OS X issue. Kodak's page doesn't say anything about X, so there aren't any driver updates for it. I'd suggest trying it under OS 9 and seeing if it works. That will give you your answer about the problem.

Hi, I heard someplace that image capture will work if you plug your camera in the usb port before you start your computer. I don't know if you tried it. Give it a try and let me know. I really don't remember where I read it, could even be in this same forum. Good luck.

I am in the same darn boat with the dc280. This camera must use some different variation of USB than most of the other USB cameras. Hopefully, I can turn up something! This is upsetting.

The DC280 isn't supported (yet?), take a look at http://www.kodak.com/global/en/servi.../tib4287.shtml

Does anybody use the Search feature at all!?!? I'm posted this Apple TIL about supported cameras for OS X image capture over ten times in different threads in the past month or so.

Go here.
