I have an External FireWire Sony Spressa 12x8x32 with Discribe; running Mac OS 9.0.4 on a GB G4.

I just found out my burner software, Sony Discribe 3.1, doesn't get along with Apple's DVD Player. Basically, when I try to play a DVD, the player gives me an error (301). If you're using Toast Apple provides an answer to this problem with the following TIL:
http://kbase.info.apple.com/cgi-bin/...?extKCID=25192

What about me? Discribe installs two extensions. In the Extensions Manager I tried having different combinations on to see if they work with the DVD Player. Unfortunately for me the only combination that works is having both those extensions off, which makes the burner unusable (can't read CD's, much less write them).

Thus, the only solution I've found so far is making the changes on the Extensions Manager and restarting every time I want to use the other drive. This is VERY inconvenient.

Any suggestions?

Hey, i just noticed i have the same problem (i dont use my dvd player that much ). I'm using Toast, so I guess thanks for the url. It fixed my problem. Sadly enough I don't have an answer for you.

Are you getting X? I hear X might not include dvd playback nor iTunes (burning utility)...so you might be restarting more than twice just to use your comp the way you are used to. That would suck.

Apple, do you see what you are doing? Do you?
