Stupid me, didn't even search for it here on the forums...
http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Forum4/HTML/000152.html

This thread talks mostly about NewerTechs card, but AFAIK they are no more... Can't seem to find the Ratoc card on their homepage either, anyoneknow if they still sell it or have resellers in Europe or US?

Since thread is since 1999 there might be others who make Firewire PCCards?

apologies for bladdering

Cheers
tygr

Orange Micro makes a PC Card Firewire card... it is nice because it has two ports... although it is a "higher profile" card, meaning that it gets bigger on the end so that it makes it difficult to use a second card in the other slot...

vst technologies makes one, as well... Their card employs a dongle off of the end... so it is not as difficult to use it with a second card in the other slot... http://www.vsttech.com

FireWire CardBus PC Card for $72  12:50 pm
FireWireDepot.com offers the IOI-CB1394 FireWire CardBus PC Card for $71.99. It's one of the lowest prices we've seen, though another option is Newer Technology's FireWire 2 Go Card, currently $31.99 at PC Mall. (It's both Mac and PC compatible, despite PC Mall's listing of PC only.) Newer Technology is no longer in business; any technical support or warranty is unlikely.

I got the NewerTech card for 30$ awhile back and since I haven't had any trouble that would require warranty help I consider it a great deal. The only thing to be concerned about here is that most of these cards do not provide bus power, which is necessary for things like firewire webcams. In this case you might need a card with optional power supply (I've heard of these butnever seen them) or an external firewire hub.

Works great for things like CDRWs and hard drives though.
