OK, so I broke down and bought a Newer Firewire PC Card, rather than buing a new Powerbook, I currently am running on a PB G3 266/128. And on top of that I bought a 40gig, maxtor Firewire HD. It's great for dumping stuff to, I get about 1.5meg/sec from my HD to it, or so it would seem. however comming off of it onto my HD, or to use anything on it, is extreamly SLOW, about 200-500 k/sec. if not slower, it is really bothering me, and I can't use it for anythign other than backing up stuff. Is there anyway to speed it up, or has anyone else experieced this problem?
thanks,

Chris

Unfortunately I think it has to do with the bus speed as well (just a guess)... my wife had a Wallstreet 266 and we had the same results when trying to use iMovie... we would get errors that the drive was too slow and the process of importing video would quit... it definitely was not the drive, because it worked fine on my (then) Pismo.

hmm, thats probably a very good point, though it makes me wonder why I can still dump stuff to it at a descent speed.
