Hello,

I will be getting a MAC pretty soon. And I was looking around for a monitor and I found the following at Max Res Q : Apple MultiScan 20" Display Mfg Model No: M1823. Until I get the G4 I wanted to try to hook up the monitor to my Windows PC and I wanted to know if I can hook up the monitor to PC Video Card ? I don't know if I need a adapter to hook up mac monitors to PCs or not.

thank you

This is exactly the question I was going to post.

Amer - you could try this adapter:

I picked it up in my attempt to hook up a Apple 16" monitor to a PC but didn't have any luck... but that may be due to the oddball monitor I am trying to use. I don't know if I also need a Sync on Green adapter as well? The video signal on the PC is scrambled (even though the switches are configured correctly on the adapter). Anyone know what's up?

Any non-ADC Apple monitor will hook up fine to a Wintel I think.
You might need an adapter, but oh well.
Thats like $3 at Fry's.

Depending on the Apple Monitor a simple adapter won't do the trick.

Amer - call the guys at Griffin Tech: http://griffintechnology.com/ - no 800# but they'll be able to tell you what adapter you'll need for a given Apple Monitor straight away.

My B&W G3 came with a Macintosh video --> VGA adaptor. I don't know if these will work on PC's, but you might be able to hunt one down and try it.

Please note... If you buy that monitor and then you buy a G4, you won't be able to use it with the G4 without an adaptor. The monitor you mention uses the old proprietary Macintosh video connector, but all new G4's (and every Mac since the B&W G3) have a standard VGA connector.
