I have a gigabit dualie G4 and yesterday I noticed that after I put it to sleep the DVD tray had not been retracted. I noticed this just as I was pulling on a blanket covering the box, so I slowly pushed the tray back in to keep from damaging anything. It gave no resistance and everything seemed fine until I tried to play a DVD today. The DVD plays fine now, but no matter which disc is in, I hear a strange rhythmic clicking sound coming from the speaker over the audio. The clicking only happens when the disc is actually playing (i.e. not during pauses or the menu screen) and it does not get quieter when I turn down the volume of the audio and let it play. This seems very strange to me and I am sure it is coming from the speaker and not the drive motor itself. Any suggestions? anyone seent this before? Please help - it's annoying. Thanks.

-Andy

Try setting the sound track to none in the appearance control panel. Then set the monitor control panel to display in thousands of colurs before playing DVDs. This should help reduce the annoying "clicks".
It works for my PB anyway...

I agree... but make sure you restart after doing this so your machine boots with sound track off. For some reason this makes a difference on my G4.
