I am soon going to order my QPS QUE! 8x4x32x External FireWire CD-RW from Outpost. If any of you have this CD-RW, can you give me your thoughts on it? Like it? Hate it? Perform well? Again...I'm talking about the external FireWire version.
Also, is this particular CD-RW compatible with iTunes?
Thanks,

Great drive, awesome performance. it now works with iTunes 1.1 and the new version of Disc Burner. Unfortunately my imac is still being repaired(for the past half year or so), but i t hink the burner is awesome.Theres no need to install the software that comes with it, just install iTunes and Disc Burner.
good luck.....

I have the Que FW 121032 and it works very well, and fast. I'm pleased with the ease of use and its speed (the 6 minute CD). Having bought this one after using the Que USB 4x4 and the Que FW 4x8, I'm pleased with this model for $299 with the current rebate. If you have the extra $$, I'd get this model over the 8x, although I know someone is going to say get the 16x10 ... how fast does the 8x FW burn 650MB?
I burn with iTunes and DiscBurner and Retrospect, works great.

Around 8 minutes.
From what I can tell Que!'s aren't real good.
I have to suggest the Yamaha 8824 FireWire model, or if you have lotsa money, the Yamaha CRW2100 - which is 16*10*40.
Get a Yamaha.

I don't have anything to compare it to, but the Que! 8x FireWire CD-RW drive I've used is great. It's quite fast (8 minutes sounds about right for 650 MB), and it gets the job done well.
One thing, though - it's HUGE. There's at least an inch of wasted empty plastic space on the top and sides -- wasted in that it's pretty much hollow. Only good if you're traveling with the drive in your hand, I suppose.

Well I run one of these on a Graphite SE/DV and have a problem when writing audio CDs. About one out of ten tracks ends with a half second grab of the song it concludes. I'd love to know if anyone has this problem and/or solution. Cheers

I think perhaps Ques might appear to be unreliable because because of the sheer numbers of them that have been sold. They have been a very popular add on because many people liked the idea of having a drive with a case that matched their Macs, or at least looked kinda cool! Plus of course the tech specs bode well too.. It stands to reason that if there are more of these drives being used, then your likely to see more problems with them on forums like this. Besides.. A lot of problems with these drives were becuase people could not be bothered to read the instructions/readme files. You needed to choose the right extensions carefuly for them to work (ie between Toast and Que extentions etc). But after that.. No problems. My 8X FireWire Que drive hasn't given me any trouble since I bought it.

I must agree, this is a good drive that looks cool next to an imac. The price has come down a lot since I first bought mine. Therefore, I think it is a great time and product to purchase. I have made about three coasters but it was my fault, I lowered the memory buffer. You won't regret buying this drive.

I have to agree with most of the posters. My Que QPS firewire drive is awesome. If you followed the directions correctly, you shouldn't have a problem.
The only problem was the one mentioned earlier. The version of Toast that comes with it is not very good. It will not convert and burn mp3 files, and it does have the problem of the random sound clip at the end of a music track.
I corrected these problems by upgrading to Toast Deluxe 1.1, then 1.2, and it works flawlessly.

Thanks guys, I had ordered one last night but it got cancelled. Outpost was out of them and QPS was no longer going to supply them w/any. Could this mean that they're coming out with new products?
