I am not sure if this shoule be here or in 3rd party apps, as I am not really certain of the problem.
I am helping my friend set up a new iBook system (2001 iBook). He purchased a Que! 12x10x32 Firewire CD-RW drive for his machine. I cannot get Toast to recognize the drive is there.
I inatalled everything from the CD that comes with the drive, I even went to QPS's website and downloaded the latest drivers...nothing. The drive does appear in the system profiler, you can put a CD-R in the drive and get a message that the disk is not formatted, and even iTunes seems to recognize the drive (although I have not tested it). But Toast will not.
Can anyone tell me why? I have all the proper etensions on (according to QPS's website) but I cannot toast.
Is this a drive problem, or a toast problem? Has anyone gotten the QPS drive to work with Toast? How?
Please let me know! I am looking like an idiot (yet again) and this is someone I just converted from the PC world to Mac...wouldn't you know it, I tell him how easy it is to add hardware to a mac, and then this happens.
Please help me out...I don't think we'll lose him though, he can't afford another new machine...he's stuck with us, for better or worse.
