I thought I read about one a little while back, but can't seem to find any reference to it now. I'd like to pick one of these up, if at all possible.

I meant the portable, bus powered ones, like VST or Lacie size (2.5 inch) drives. I didn't see any of these at Granite (3.5 and 5.25 only)
Anybody?

milhaus, I'm looking for the same thing.

Maybe during macworld VST will announce something. I did read somewhere that someone from VST said something about exciting new products being unveiled at Macworld this Summer.

Given that I can buy a nice looking case (clear plastic) from Transintl, for only $125 bus powered firewire and portable, plus a 20gb IBM drive for like $150, total only $275. Whereas VST charges something like $350-400 for a 10gb (although in just as nice a case)

They got to keep their edge and I think they just might release a new portable drive that give the full speed (or near it anyway) of the drive. Kind of like the Oxford 911 chipset for the much bigger 3.5" drives, but which are not portable.

Actually, I found one. I'm not concerned so much about price as I am about performance. I just bought a 3 gig VST drive which is so incredibly nicely put together. I'm not so concerned about speed, so ma thinking about just going VST again, but these pocket pups have the Oxford chipset, and are bus powered. While not as pretty as the VST drives, they are expandable. See the product here: http://www.electricdeal.com/cgi-bin/...cdeal/253.html

If you order it, let me know how it turns out. I haven't seen a review of these new drive enclosures yet.
