I got a external firewire harddrive that i recently reformatted. It has 2 firewire ports in the back so i thought i could plug one into each mac and get both macs to use the hard drive. Sadly its either 1 or the other mac.
Is there another way i can get both macs to show the hard drive? i want to use it so we can save files on it and be able to access it on the other without the need for network login which we rarely us but need the ability to get files from one computer onto the other.
Is there a way possible to go from firewire to ethernet so i could put it on my network as a network hard drive?
You shouldn't make fun of nerds... you'll be working for one some day.

No, you cannot plug it into both Macs at the same time.

Yes, you could buy a NAS box for the drive, and dump the Firewire enclosure.

It's network attached storage. Oh, and moving …
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

No, but thanks for the chuckle.

Take the drive out of the Firewire enclosure and put it in one of these.
