I was thinking about getting an isight... but first of all- I heard that people on windows can't connect with you when you're using an isight. Is that true? Would you be able to use the webcam option over yahoo with someone who wasn't on a mac? Most of my friends don't have apple computers, sadly. Also, are there any alright alternatives to the isight? Thanks

I use my iSight in Yahoo chat all the time with buddies using Windows based machines. I have a new Intel iMac with the built in iSight and microphone, works like a charm!

The iSight is just a webcam. This sounds like a software issue. It all depends on which IM program you are using, and the version of program your windows friends are using.

I've used my iSight successfully with other windows machines via iChat and Yahoo.
I gotta have more cowbell.

The iSight camera is a fine solution, but there are other alternatives. MacWorld did an article comparing it to several competing cameras. Here is the link:

I have had the same experience as the the other people that have replied to your post. I video chat often with "windoze" users using ichat. Works great!

I second the above posts. I use yahoo, aMSN, and iChat w/o any probs connecting to windblows users. the video quality is best on iChat though.
