Clik/PocketZip PC Card in Powerbook?

I picked up a retail packaged Clik PC Card drive on the cheap and it fits very snuggly in my Lombard. Not sure it the drive has a manufacturing defect or if it's slightly larger than the typical PC card. I've used multiple PC cards before, so I know the difference isn't in my hardware.

It isn't supported for Mac, but neither is the Agfa CL30 Clik! camera, and I've used it over USB without problems.

Don't want to exchange it for another if the problem is inherent. Any Mac users successfully using the PC card Clik without problems?

If so, where can I download any development drivers I'd need?

Hm... it may be the wrong type of card for that slot.
I believe the TiBook has a different type of slot... not much consellation I know, but perhaps it would work in that. If so then you're out of luck as your Lombard doesn't have the right type of slot for that card...

The Click drive does not work with the Mac via the PC Card adapter (it physically fits the slot, but Iomega doesn't provide any drivers), you must use their (Iomega's) PocketZip PC Card USB dock ... which is rather silly when they could create a driver that would accomplish the same task without the dock in-between. (PocketZip is the rebadged name for the Clik! disk)....

It is the right card and the right slot. Just finished checking CNET reviews and they have a number of laptop users reporting the same tolerance problems, including most ThinkPads apparently.

Iomega's support site suggests trying it in another laptop. Doubt I'll be trading in my Powerbook to accomodate the Clik drive.

Probably end up taking it back. Very disappointing.

Thanks for the advice. I've found MacNN forums a better and faster source for information than most vendors inhouse support.

Nope, it doesn't work. I bought one for my Ti500, and after inserting the card, with the PocketZip drive in it, nothing, nada. Like ddiokno says, you must use the dock to connect to a Mac. And the dock needs external power to work. So, it's worthless to have with a PowerBook. Who wants to carry around the Pocket Zip, the dock, and an external power supply?? I sent the piece of sh!t back. You would think that Iomega would make it comply to the PC card standards.

Thanks again for the input. Iomega does make an external, bus-powered Clik/PocketZip drive but only seems to sell it on their website. If I'd paid more than $35 for the drive, I'd be more frustrated, but I'm a sucker for cheap even if the hardware doesn't advertise Mac support.

Oddly enough, I tried it on three G3 FW PBs. The was to tight like mine, but the other two fit fine? There must be some subtle differences in the manufacturing tolerances.

Took it back, got my money. May just wait until the PocketZip100 comes out and hope for Mac drivers.

I too took advantage of the bargain, reported on DealMac (http://dealmac.com/articles/22738.html). It is the first time that I have been mislead by them. I bought 2 click drives & 10 40MB disks for a C note! Not all great deals turn out to be good deals. It fits fine in my Pismos, but it isn't recognized. The driver cd is PC only and the software download on Iomega.com only list PC drivers for the click.

I am going to call Iomega in the morning to beg for help if not for a refund.
